Facial Mosturizer

Post by DebE13 »

Any suggestions for a good mosturizer I can use on my face? I have never had so many issues with my skin, ever. I used to have perfect skin and didn't have to do much to maintain it. I now have never ending flaking skin from my forehead and frequent red splotches on my cheeks, along with a patch of I don't know what to call it to the side of my lower lip (not acne but clogged pores that don't erupt into pimples but have the white gunk build up deep in the skin that can be squeezed out).

My face often feels dry and tight and my cheeks seem to retain heat which makes it feel like there's a rash when there's nothing noticable there, but sometimes there is a rash. Go figure.

I've been trying to watch high histamine foods but struggle with that. I've been using histame which seems to help keep my sinuses open.

I'm looking for something safe to use to keep the itchiness down and possibly the rash under control.

Deb -
I use this to take care of my ultra dry skin.

They are good friends of mine. Markey, the owner, will make things specifically for your problems.
There is a forum where you can ask questions, or you can email Markey or Jen (has her own skincare line and is second in command at GoW. She answers most questions.)

The products are first class, way cheaper than anything else you can get, use all the latest products that cost 100s anywhere else.

That certainly sounds like "flushing," a common problem associated with MCAD. It sounds like you really have to avoid all high-histamine foods, or start taking an H1 antihistamine blocker. Have you tried antihistamines yet?

I have very sensitive skin. Aubrey's Vegecol lotion is about as simple as you can get and doesnt clog pores.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will look into them. I'm hesitant now just to pick a brand off the shelf.

Gloria- I use benadryl when I have severe skin reactions most often in the spring and fall. I'm finding I have more problems during these times when in my garden and being outside is what makes me happy so I won't ever give that up (hopefully). I've only had issues the past several years and seems to be getting worse. I've used OTC allergy pill which help some but nothing that gives me an "ah ha" moment. I'm also using Nasal Crom and Histame right now.

I've tried to limit the high histamine foods and use Histame when I do eat them. I try to limit it to just one of that food type a day. I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not or if that would be comparable to eating just one serving of glutened food. That's my big debate right now.

I don't take the antihistamines regularly so that may make a difference too. I tend to take them when it becomes unbearable.

I've never heard of MCAD, so I'll have to look that one up.

DebE,

MCAD stands for mast cell activation disorder, which is synonymous with mast cell activation syndrome, (MCAS).

It refers to a condition in which mast cells are unstable, and degranulate inappropriately.

Thanks Tex- ok then, I've heard of that before  I googled it and found a different disease- all I could think of is how wonderful it would be to have another problem to deal with (sarcasm). Although, it would probably take my mind off food and itching, haha.
