Welcome, Kristine! As others have said, this site is the greatest for encouragement and advice as you work through this disease.

Taking Entocort helped me a lot at the beginning. That was before I knew about any diet connection. Now I know that food is the key to controlling MC. It does seem overwhelming at first to make such huge changes to our diets, but there actually is a lot of food that is naturally gluten-free, and dairy-free. I also avoid soy and all legumes. Interestingly, fatigue is the most noticeable symptom if I eat soy by accident (never on purpose!) It makes me much more tired than if I get glutened.

I wish you the best of luck on your path to recovery.

Love,
Martha

Cathy - I have started having vision problems lately too. My eyes are red, especially in the morning, and sometimes it seems more difficult to focus. I never would have made the connection between my eye issues and my gut issues until I read your other post.

I was seeing gluten gluten everywhere when I was out and about today and was feeling overwhelmed by the idea of going gluten free. But I'm going to give it a try because I want to get better. I don't normally eat a lot of dairy so that one won't be as much of a challenge as going gluten free.

I just want to get my energy back!

Thanks everyone.
Kristine, your eye symptoms mirror mine. I too didn't know there was a connection but the more I read, the more it seems likely. Do you wear glasses? My PCP encouraged me to see an opthamologist sooner than what I had scheduled and even offered to call to try to speed the process up. She was quite concerned.

Martha,
Thank you for your response. You all have convinced me that I need to get on board with the diet changes. I'll be so happy to get my old energy back. I'll pay attention to soy and eggs too.

Cathy,
Thank you. I do wear glasses and because of your post I'm going to make an appointment with an opthomologist. I haven't been in about 5 years (to an MD). I went to my optometrist a year ago and got a new prescription and I have already noticed that the Rx needs to be tweaked again.
