Zantac-H2

Post by jmayk8 »

So Zantac is an H2 Histamine blocker and I have been on Zantac 150 2xs a day for the past week. I have had ALL normans and no stomach gurgles or bloating. I seem to be able to eat a bunch of foods. I am however staying away from foods high in histamine. Although, I did have a bit of tomato sauce on my gf pasta the other night and seemed fine. I have been testing out different H1s to see which work for me. I have tried a few and still have a bit of itching when I take them. So maybe one of the inactive ingredients is bothering me. Currently I am taking a zrytec-the liquid gels I found do not contain lactose like the others. I also bought a bottle of dye-free childrens benedryl liquid.
Dr. Hamilton emailed me on Friday letting me know that by urine test came back normal. I emailed him back but, since it was a holiday weekend, I will hopefully touch base with him today to see what is next. I obviously have mast cells in my GI since the Zantac is bringing me normans but, I am worried bc I don't want them migrating anywhere else in my body. I guess I will have to wait to see what his thoughts are...

Jenny,

Not to worry. Mast cells don't migrate - they stay put. Unfortunately, though, they are found in varying concentrations in virtually all organs in the body, mostly in epithelia, (such as skin, the lining of the intestines, etc.).

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
