Leah,

MRT stands for mediator release testing, but no one knows which mediators they actually test for. They use an indirect method of testing, supposedly by measuring changes in the liquids to solids ratio of blood, after the blood has been exposed and incubated with the test substance. It sounds like psuedo-science, but it seems to work, for a lot of people. It doesn't work anywhere near as well as the statistics that are often quoted about the tests, though. For example, the site at the link below, says:
MRT is the most accurate blood test available for food sensitivities. Scientific studies have shown MRT to be 94.5% accurate in sensitivity and 91.8% accurate in specificity in detecting reactive foods.

I can't help but wonder whose scientific studies those were, because IMO, those percentages are way too optimistic.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Well, since I have selective IgA deficiency, but spent all that money on Enterolab for nothing, I think I'll wait on the MRT. I'm going to see if I can figure this out on my own. You never know though. In a few months, I may get desperate if I don't get a hold on this thing. Thanks for the info
