Leah
I have been using colostrum over the past 12 months.
I started using it in May 2011 and was having it daily for about 3 months,
two reasons a) using the IgA and IgG to help rebuild the immune system and b) the __ ingredient (i dont have my notes with me to confirm which part) 'grabs' onto the parasites bacteria etc from the bowel lining/villi that have lodged due to leaky gut and they are removed/passed via the BM

the long term plan is that once the inflammation had reduced and the leaky gut had healed, and we have removed all the parasites and bacteria via the colostrum, to then try pro-biotics, on the basis that a small amount of pro-biotic would multiply and increase the good bacteria easier with all the bad stuff removed.

with some teeth infection/oral surgery in September and histamine issues over xmas, the parasites etc levels increased again.
I was not taking it for a while, but in the past month, it is now back as one of my daily supplements

It does have trace amounts of dairy so if you do react to dairy be cautious introducing it. I started with 1/8 - 1/4 dose and worked up to a full dose over a couple of weeks.

colostrum

Post by Leah »

Thanks for getting back on this one Gabes Ryan (is that your first and last name?). I was researching it because the same company I buy my gluten free "green" drink from carries it and the literature was stating the same things you are. I did find one on the market that claims to be Casein and lactose free but I don't know if that's possible (Trimedica). Then there is the the (6 Hour) Colostrum which is a lozenge and seems to have very low levels of dairy. I'm not sure about the Jarro brand. It does seem like there are different qualities out there and it does seem to matter how quickly they take it from the cow. I will think on this one. I already take so many supplements.... maybe I will wait until I am off of Entocort.

Thanks again.

Leah,

yes, Gabes Ryan is first name and last name...

i started the colostrum about 14 months after Dx, at that stage the MC symptoms were mostly minimal. the inflammation was greatly reduced and i had done alot work via my diet to heal the leaky gut.

I believe it definately helped my immune system and i got through the winter here with only one mild cold, whilst work colleagues had flu's and chest infections.
If you exclude the things out of my control ie hitatius hernia/GERD, infected molers and histamine issue type symptoms, I have been reasonably healthy and recovered from the oral surgery quite quickly.

here in Aus, the brand i was using was Metagenics, Ultra Probioplex. not cheap but the good quality supplements that are GF/SF/YF/EF etc never are.
i would rather pay an extra $10 for a good quality product.
