Dilemma!
The GERD is HORRIBLE! Famotidene isn't helping at all. The only thing that helps is omeprazole. (It's from India, not real nexium, but at this stage anything helps!)
It hurts to eat, so the esophagitis is really bad.
My GI won't answer me, and in any case, if we do repeat the surgery, it won't be today.
I am sucking on rock candy to keep the GERD down as much as possible, but even then it's really bad. Woke me last night. It helps to suck a Tums, but that is so bad for me.
What would you do?

Well, unless I was pretty sure that it would make my MC reaction worse, I would probably give some serious thought to taking the omeprazole.
It's hard to win, in your situation.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
I am seriously thinking and have taken one or 2, which is how I know they help.
I do feel it's no win, especially since I do not have a doctor on my side. He still hasn't called me, or emailed a response.
I will give it one more day, then call Kaiser and discuss what I can do. I am so sick of this!
Thanks Tex!

Thanks all!
NEWS! My GI finally answered me!
This is his reply, 2 weeks after my endoscopy:
My computer at home has been down and that is where I do my e mail. (what prevented him from calling me? ) The wrap is intact so I do not recommend redoing it , the results if redone could be worsening of symptoms And also effect stomach emptying. The surgeons I have spoken to do not recommend Re operation unless the wrap has slipped , which is not your case. To control the reflux I strongly recommend using proton pump inhibiting drugs as they are most effective. I know that you may have related microscopic colitis from them , but the evidence supporting A link between the two is weak . I would start taking omeprazole twice A day . If you donot agree then taking Gaviscon twice after each meal , one and three hours later , and once at bedtime.would provide sufficient neutralization of acid. T Teller
My reply to him:
Thank you for your reply!
I am confused. The results of the endoscopy show a hernia? Is there another one, or am I mistaken? The nurse pointed out to me on the picture you took during the endoscopy.
I have started taking omeprazole every couple of days, when the pain gets overwhelming, along with the famotadine 2x a day. Gaviscon never affected the pain at all. I could have chugged it day and night with no effect.
Will the PPIs help the esophagitis heal?
I have had a really bad flare of the MC. It started after the endoscopy, and got worse after a dental emergency for which I had a local anesthetic. I seem to react to every medication.
I cannot add in any foods over meat and potatoes plainly cooked, without really having cramps, bloating, and diarrhea.
MC might be "benign", but it affects every aspect of life very negatively!
Again, thanks for your support! I don't know what I would do without it.
