Wow, hubby discovered the BEST GF bread I've ever tasted this weekend. He bought Canyon Bakehouse bread at an independent healthfood store in upstate NY. It was frozen, and is still amazing thawed and right out of the bag (no toasting required!) It has egg and tapioca, but no soy. I highly recommend!!
You can order online or use the store locator to find it, and loaves are only $5 each. I had the Mountain White loaf.
Zizzle, thanks for the tip. I have a Sprouts just down the street, but never go there because Whole Foods is even closer. Guess I need to visit Sprouts again.
Nancy, never did try Schars. Gonna give that a try too. Thanks!
I found Canyon Bakehouse products in a local supermarket in Littleton right before Thanksgiving. The actual bakery is located a couple of towns away from me (in Loveland), so I assumed it was a local bakery and did not post about the products here.
I had the Rosemary Thyme focaccia bread with Thanksgiving dinner - yum. Because I got so sick a couple of days after Thanksgiving (when doing a dairy challenge), I've stayed away from anything "unusual" that was part of that dinner, so haven't had any of their baked goods since:(. I'm trying to eat low carb these days (blood sugar), but hopefully will get back to their products at some future time.
Thanks for the reminder - it seems that more and more "delicious" gf products are coming our way these days .
Love,
Kari

Charlotte, I just bought the bread at Sprouts today. The cinnamon/raisin kind. And yes, the hamburger buns looked great. Better than Udi's. Can't wait to try it.
Just wanted to share that I just bought Canyon Bakehouse's "$5 Off One of Everything" special. It was almost $14 for shipping, but that works out to be the same price as the health food store ($7 per item). You can see the special on their homepage - the orange tab midway down on the right. I've tried all their breads and they are excellent. This will be my first taste of the hamburger buns and muffins. They ship frozen and arrive thawed, but I have had no trouble refreezing and thawing -- still no toaster required!
They only ship Mondays and Tuesdays.
They are GF/DF/SF and peanut and nut free. They do use eggs.
These are the ingredients in the hamburger buns. I can't have brown rice flour so they are out for me now that I had Enterolab testing done and have to eliminate rice and corn. But I agree the bread was delicious when I tried it back in May.
