Spammers

Hi All,

Did someone delete several spam posts, or did I dream that it happened?

Just after I logged on (a little earlier), I noticed that a recent registrant (whom I had been watching, because they seemed suspicious, but their IP address and e-mail address didn't appear on the spammer list that I checked, so I reluctantly activated their account) had posted. I verified that they had posted spam by checking their profile, but before I could locate the individual posts, they disappeared.

Thanks for taking care of that, but whenever you do that, please let me know (I need the username), so that I will be aware of their spammer status, and won't fail to follow through by banning their IP address and e-mail address, (in addition to deleting the account). If you delete the posts before I see them, normally I have no way of knowing that they ever existed, and I will be unaware that the account needs to be deleted, the IP address banned, etc., in order to prevent it from happening again.

Obviously I don't need this particular account name, because I happened to notice the spam before it was deleted, so I've already deleted the account and taken care of the banning details.

Anyway, thanks for helping to keep the site spam free.

Tex I note the spam that was posted, but don't clearly recall the user name. It was a name with 'mom' or 'mama' in it or something like that. It may have been Gloria that was able to delete those, I noticed that when she came online they were removed

It was "rebornmammy". I guess they figured that anyone with MC would surely want to see ads for baby supplies.

You're probably right. It's not a big deal -- I just like to be sure that spam accounts are removed and banned. Shirley and Polly delete spam posts every so often, but they usually send me a PM afterward.

Anyway, I do appreciate that the spam posts were deleted. No one wants to see that stuff.

Up until now I never thought about why we have no spam on this site so I would like to thank those of you who work so hard to keep it clean of spam. I appreciate all you do! :goteam:

Umm - just a thought - maybe they thought "Potty People" had some reference to babies? Little did they know! ;-)

Yes, I deleted the posts. I noticed that several members had read them and figured you were too busy to delete them as you usually do. It's the first time I've done that, and I'll be sure to let you know the name of the spammer if I do it again.
