Care Package All The Way From The Other Side Of The World

Hi Gabes,

Guess what showed up in yesterday's mail? I have to say your timing was perfect, because I've been trying to find a way around a technical problem with converting the book into a PDF file, so that it can be uploaded for printing, and I've wasted a week on it, without success.

So some "comfort food" goodies brought a nice distraction from worldly problems.

Apparently the problem is due to a glitch in the word processor that I have used for all these years, and nothing I can do will make it work, including third party PDF converters. Every time I try to do a conversion, it introduces changes not only in the formatting of the PDF file, but also in the word processor file, (something that should theoretically be impossible). Not major changes, just minor, aggravating changes that are compounded with every subsequent conversion attempt.

This is about as frustrating as an MCer just leaving the bathroom only to realize that it's time to head back. LOL.

So last night I downloaded OpenOffice, and today I'm studying the manual, learning how to use it. I wish I had done this before I started the book, but I had never tried to do a PDF conversion before. I should be able to just copy the text into an OpenOffice document, and reformat everything and reedit as needed, (after I learn how to use it). Hopefully, I'll be able to get it done in about a week. In the meantime, I'll be munching on the Jelly Babies.

Many thanks, Gabes. I truly appreciate your thoughtfulness, but you really shouldn't be squandering your money on a ne'er-do-well such as myself. LOL. The cost to ship a package half-way around the world is outrageous. I'm pretty sure I'm not worth it.

Tex, you are worth every cent it cost to send the package and all of us here know it.

Keep plugging along on the book. We are all eager to get a copy.

and secondly you are very welcome!!!

and thirdly - i wish i knew you were having software pdf issues, i use open office and have a pdf writer and could have helped out - oh well. at least the Jelly Babies got you through and that definately makes the postage costs worth it!!

truth be known, with the medical stuff and wedding stuff, i had kinda forgotten that i had posted it!

he he zizzle - not me! (goodness gracious been there done that and moved on ...)

my close friends, who live in the train carriage house where Joe has stayed, got married in Sydney on the weekend. it was a very small wedding (5 guests) so i had multiple roles, chief bridesmaid, best man, photographer, florist, i did the readings during the ceremony, stylist, limosine service from their home to brisbane airport etc etc.
