Any success with Omega 7 and Glutamine?
Hello everyone,
An MD/Naturopath I know suggested Omega 7 which she says repairs the mucous membrane and Glutamine as well.
Anyone had any success or noticed any difference when taking these supplements?
Thank you,
Monique

Hi Monique,
L-Glutamine is a supplement widely used by bodybuilders and athletes to help heal damaged muscle tissue. It's thought to be beneficial for helping damaged intestines to heal, also. Some members here who have used it have had good results, while others couldn't detect any benefits.
I've never heard of Omega 7. The most beneficial fatty acids are Omega 3s, and many of us take flax seed oil and/or fish oil in order to supplement our Omega 3 intake. I take 1,200 mg each of both of them, myself.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hi Ted,
I knew about glutamine too but never heard about omega 7 either. I did a little search and they (whoever THEY are) say that it heals the intestinal mucous membrane. There is a company that makes good supplements called New Chapter that explains it on their website (wiki explains it too).
Thanks
Monique
BTW, can I send you my mugshot? The site didn't take it, apparently file bigger than it can accommodate....maybe you can reduce it. thanks.

I have used glutamine in my daily protein shake for months and I have had no major flare ups. I am still taking budesonide though but am down to 1-3mg. pill every 5-6 days. I too have never heard of Omega 7...I do take Krill or Fish oil tablets though daily.
Hi Monique,
I've been using L Glutamine at the recommendation of a regular poster who swears by it. I've been using it for about 6 months.
It hasn't hurt me--I'm not sure if it is helping--but I'm doing pretty good now.
I'm taking 3 heaping tsp mixed in a cup of water 3 x per day. (If I work out I make one of my doses after work out.)
I'm using the powder L Glutamine from Vitamin Shoppe that the body builders use. I buy a tub of it at a time.
