Had to have surgery
Hi all,
This is the first chance I have had to come and let you know what has been going on and of course to ask you some questions.
Went to ER with stomach pain way over the number 10 diagnosed with a hernia that had incarcerated and had emergency surgery. No re-section needed. There was a lot of inflamation. They felt this has been going on for a while with the intestine slipping in and out. They had some comments about Gastro doctors in general, that this board would be proud of.
The doctors at the hospital could not answer this with anything more than a maybe. Could the hernia and inflamation have been causing the 10+ BM's a day. I still think I have some form of IBS/IBD but I had been able to control it with careful eating than about a year ago everything went off the charts with no help from anything.
Hope this is all making sense just got home from the hospital and still very out of it.
Hugs,
K

Hi Kitty,
Welcome back. I'm glad they found the problem and fixed it before the situation become much more serious. Sure, any type of enteritis (inflammation of the intestine) can cause D. IMO, the answer given by the doctors at the hospital is pretty much on target, because while such a situation can certainly cause D, a frequency of 10 or more times per day would seem to be uncommon, unless the hernia prompted your MC to become active (which is certainly possible, since MC can be triggered by any form of chronic inflammation).
IOW, what I'm saying is that a frequency of 10+ BMs per day was probably caused by your MC, (rather than by the hernia per se), but the MC could certainly have been triggered by the hernia.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hi,
Thank you all for your well wishes. I kinda feel like I was hit by a truck LOL
Tex I kept wishing you could have heard the Surgeon going on about how he has never met one Gastro doctor that had a brain. I know I'm over thinking all this but I can't understand how they were able to do colonoscopies if my intestines were not were they should have been. My wish is that after this is all healed I can return to leading an almost normal life by just doing careful eating. This had worked for me for many years.
Hugs to all,
K
