Getting things under control... now a GI bug. :(

I have been doing rather well, so to speak ,since my last post. Still Gluten free, on Endocort now at 6mg a day and one or two Imodium a day as needed.That is a decrease from 9mg of Endocort a day and five Imodium probably two plus weeks ago.

Last night I got up in the middle of the night to a round of horrendous D and then vomiting. Followed by being cold as ice and piling upevery blanket I had on me . It as all the signs of a Gi bug.

Thankfully it was quick. But I don't need one more thing to deplete me of anything in my body.

Sorta better

Sorta worn out............just by this whole disease. It is exhausting physically as well as mentally.


In my search of what may have caused the incident last night, I found out that Claritin contains lactose. I am lactose intolerant.
Guess I have to live with a snotty runny nose too.

Bummer. I hope you're right, and it's over. Of course, something like that leaves us sort of wrung out for a day or two.

How about Allegra instead of Claritin? It's inactive ingredients are:

colloidal silicon dioxide, croscarmellose sodium, hypromellose, iron oxide blends,
magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol, povidone,
pregelatinized starch, titanium dioxide

I was going to say the same thing. Allegra seems to work just as well as Claritin ( although the small amount of Lactose doesn't seem to bother me). It sounds like you definitely caught something. Although the last time that happened to me, it was because I ate something that was too old.

Oh Camie....you poor thing. Just when you are starting to feel better. It does sound like you caught something. But, yay, on reducing your meds. I do hope you feel so much better tomorrow!

I couldn't handle Allegra, and I was concerned about the lactose in Claritin. Joe mentioned that Claritin Redi-Tabs had fewer ingredients than most other antihistamines, so I tried the Redi-Tabs. I'm taking 2 tabs a day without any problems.

Here are the ingredients in Claritin Redi-Tabs:
Active ingredient: Loratadine 10 mg
Inactive ingredients: anhydrous citric acid, gelatin, mannitol, mint flavor

I bought 50 tabs at Sam's club for $22.
