My younger sister had her 58th birthday recently and when her son asked her what she wanted she said she always wanted to go parasailing. We were all a bit worried as she has a heart condition but she was determined. So yesterday afternoon we all gathered at the Bribie Island Jetty to watch her do it. She was happy & expectant before she went but she was over the moon when she got back & is planning to do it again, as often as possible. I would have been terrified but she said it was wonderful, just like she was flying & she could see the fish (but no sharks)way down below in the water.
She's Flying
Back on dry land & ecstatic
I got some pretty good video as well.

Wow - cool, Liz. I went parasailing in Malaysia many many moons ago...although I was young(ish) I was pretty scared. It was a wonderful experience. I don't know that I'd have the gumption to do it at 58 - good for your Sis
I guess when you're scared of heights and flying you don't want to parasail! I bet it's a wonderful experience though!
Good for her!!!!!!
(I'm a) fraidyicat too,

"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful." -- Buddha
Funny thing is, when we were at the party the other night which was on the river, near the Story Bridge, we were discussing climbing it, which you can these days. Pat said that she would no way do that because she didn't like heights
There is no way you would get me up there either. Maybe it is genetic. My Mum went to a lookout near Cairns many moons ago. She actually had to get down on her hands & knees & crawl back from the edge, she was so frightened.
I can never understand why poeple pay good money to go on some of those horrifying rides at shows & such.
