This is a picture (sorry so large) of my three girls--Lauren, Sierra, and Hannah--and my father and me taken the end of March. Lauren has autoimmune hepatitis, caused by gluten. Sierra reacts to gluten and dairy, though she is in denial about the dairy. There is probably something else because she is having focus issues again. Hannah doesn't react to gluten yet, though she is starting to have some food allergies, but because of family history and the gene(s) she has inherited, she is gluten-free.
My father will be 90 in a few months. He's a WWII veteran (B24 pilot) and a career Air Force officer. He has struggled with diarrhea since I was very young, and I suspect he has celiac sprue and perhaps MC. He is treated every six months with monoclonal anitibodies for non-Hodgkins lymphoma. My mother had NHL also, though she died of congestive heart failure. I suspect that she had celiac, too.
The faces of gluten intolerance today...
