Hi Sydney - I looked back to see if I could find any of those results from years ago, but I couldn't. I have a physical scheduled for September (the soonest I can get in), and I will ask to have the test repeated. Maybe she has some of those results. I know only a little about thyroid numbers. i remember being tested two, maybe three times, over the years and being told each time the results were normal. Kathy

Hi, Kathy.

The reason I asked about your test results, is because I was hypothyroid, along with having Hashimoto's thyroid disease. (swinging back & forth between being hyperthyroid & hypothyroid) and I saw so many doctors, including a top Endocrinologist at the University of Chicago, who told me, "Your thyroid is a little bit low, keep an eye on it".

I finally found my DO, 12 years ago, and he listened to my symptoms, ran the thyroid panel, and I was definitely hypothyroid.

Do you have any symptoms of being hyperthyroid, other than being hot? Such as an increaed appetite, along with weight loss?

Ladies, here is an article on the clinical strategies for assessing thyroid function, where they do a good job explaining the balance of thyroid hormones and how important it is to look for free T4 levels. It also lists a number of conditions that are likely to need thyroid assessment and (no surprise) related autoimmune conditions are third on the list. I actually took this article to my PCP when asking her to look at my thyroid levels. We had a good discussion and she thanked me for bringing it in.

Hi Sydney, Kathy, everyone else, I'm new here, just got my diagnosis (CC) on Tuesday. Thanks to the board and all the info here, I was pretty sure it was MC as the colonoscopy looked "normal".

I have had that hot feeling off and on for months now. When I feel it I take my temp and it's elevated, 99 or so.

I really think for me, it is a side effect of the inflammation. But, I haven't had my thyroid tested in about five years, so I don't know if I have issues with that right now.

And it's not menopause just yet--i dont think! i'm still in my thirties.

When I started getting that hot feeling, mostly my head and back of neck, combined with the WD, I was convinced I had the flu, but it lasted three months.

Anyway just wanted to chime in on that hot feeling. Cheers.

Hi Sydney and Carol,

Thanks for pointing out the thyroid connection and the helpful links. I had not given it another thought after my negative tests years ago, but know now that I need to revisit it. I've recently paid attention to my temperature, and it doesn't reach 97 degrees - usually 96.5 or lower. I woke up hot last night; my temperature was only 96.2. It seems I have other symptoms as well and have for a long time. Should I see an Endo?

Kathy, I've never seen an Endo but I would think that would be the way to go if you don't think your primary care physician would be helpful in this case. I would hope odds are that an Endo would be able to find an issue sooner since that is their specialty.

Thanks, Carol. My primary is excellent and very supportive. I can't get an appointment though until September, and it seems she refers out quickly. I'm wondering if I should just start with the Endo now that it seems I may have thyroid issues. It's discouraging to have had negative results all along and possibly still have a problem all this time. :???: I appreciate the information! Kathy
