It's only been a week on the Entocort and Norman (well, at the very least his first cousin) has come to visit. I'm not too sure taking steroids while I have so many healing bones is a good idea, but I'm so thankful for the relief. I hardly had any problems with the D while my body was in real trauma, but boy did it get bad once I started healing. Go figure?! For now, I'm not complaining .
Great! You've had to travel a rough road for way too long. It's high time you had a break.

I WISH! That's what the pharmacy kept telling me...you'll get constipated. I said gee, that won't be a problem . I was still on the meds when the D came back with a vengaence.
Yep - fighting spirit - thas me

Were you taking pain medication? Pain meds have a "constipatory" effect so maybe that's what kept norman in the house. Glad he's back.
SO glad you are better, Peg. Did the Asacol ever start doing anything for you, or didn't you take it last time after the Entocort? I am so afraid that if I ever stop taking it that it won't ever work for me again.

Asacol was the first thing I ever took after being dx'd and it DID work well for me - it took two and a half months to start working and then did it ever! I weaned myself down to where I was taking a maintenance dosage of one a day, then quit taking it altogether. I had problems after about two months of no meds and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get the Asacol to work again. I've been on the Entocort before and it worked very well (and quickly), I just didn't want to take it long term. I tried the Asacol again this time around, but still no luck.
We all know how different we react to these meds and this disease so I don't know if my experience will be the same as anyone else's, although I remember Maureen (Mo) doing the same thing - except she stayed on the one a day dosage.

As a matter of fact, I was wondering how you were doing in that area, and if you were starting to take the entocort again? You are one person I watc, because of the meds you started out with, asacol, is what I am taking now to control my runs. Also, to hear about how the new drug is affecting you, I am glad that you are getting some relief from it, I don't think it would be much fun running to the bathroom when you were healing as well, and moving around was not easy.
It's about time you have some good news! Hope Norman drops by soon although his first cousin is always welcome to stick around too!
Hugs,
Mars
