Hi Joan, Thank you for that post. I will send it out to all the members of the gluten intolerant group that I volunteer for. Jon

For real? Crap. Guess who diligently wears her retainer every night to protect the spendy investment in her front teeth? Sigh.

Thanks for the post. Something to look into. You'd think by now they'd all know better than to use allergans in such products.

Absolutely Amazing. Now I wonder if dentures also could contain gluten. Have both upper and lower and have been having a horrible time getting a good day. Had them for a number of years and was just wondering. Dentist said no but I now have my doubts.

Love, Maggie

Maggie,

The problem may be in the adhesive. Virtually all denture adhesives contain cellulose gum. While cellulose gum does not contain gluten, for some reason or other, some people seem to react to it.

Hi Joan, I recieved an e-mail from a member of the gluten intolerence group that I work with thanking me for the site about the gluten in retainers. Her teenage daughter got fitted for a retainer and she is making sure there will be no gluten. Thank you again. Jon

Wow, I wonder if dental sealants applied in molars of virtually every kid contain gluten? The are supposed to be "acrylic" but I know they contain BPA for starters. Ugh.
