Weel finally being diagnosed with SIBO!

Hi everyone, sorry for not been on lately, felt so crap.

I have finally been diagnosed with SIBO (Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth). The gastro bloke put me on a 7 day course of Amoxiclav antibiotics, well after 2 days I was on top form, my carer wondered what had happened to me I think she must have thoought I was on something All the pain, gas, bloating etc was gone. 2 days after the course of abntibiotics finished bang!!! it has come back worse, I feel so ill, depressed everything, no energy at all. So I am going to have to go back to the docs again.

Hi Ian,

I'm sorry to hear that the treatment didn't last. If they prescribe a round of antibiotics again, be sure that you start taking a good probiotic on the last day of the antibiotics treatment, and continue to take it daily for a couple of weeks. The probiotic will help to prevent the bad bacteria from taking over again, before some good bacteria can become established. Your doctor should have advised you to do that the first time.

Hi, I have had the same reaction to antibiotics. I have to take them before a dental appointment. Norman visits for a couple of days and then back to No. 6 on the BSC. Jon

My only SIBO test 5 years ago was "equivocal"/negative. I always wondered what the slightly elevated numbers meant. I too experience temporary remission every time I take antibiotics.
