I intend to call those guys, when I get caught up, and have a little time to spare, (during business hours). In the meantime, when it happens, just hit the "Back" button on your browser, and wait about a minute, and then hit the "submit" button again. Repeat, if necessary.
Sorry for the inconvenience,
Tex
It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
I have just lost 2 posts that went into cyberspace and no matter how many times I hit the back button, it just isn't there!!!!!!!!! Whaaaaaaa
Keep getting the critical error.

I just lost my post to you by using the mouse and clicking on "submit". Happens 2 out of 3 times today.
Good luck tracking down the nasty little bugger!

Hmmmmmmmmm. There are no known issues with those browsers, that I'm aware of. Opera and Safari had issues with the previous version of the board, but the new version was supposed to provide a fix.
I use Mozilla, (Firefox), and have never lost a post, while trying to submit it. I've written a lot of posts today, and many of them resulted in a "Critical Error" message, when I hit the submit button the first time or two, but I never lost a post.
To be honest, if this is happening after you hit the submit button, and the server refuses connection, (critical error), and your post dissappears, then I believe the problem has to be in your browser, because it shouldn't delete the post from your input window, until it receives an acknowledgment from the server that the database update was successful. If the server refuses connection, there's no way that acknowledgment could be sent. Apparently the browser is proceeding without an acknowledgment.
I wonder if the older versions did the same thing. The new versions may be taking shortcuts, in order to speed up operation. Both IE and AOL are much larger, and more unwieldly programs, than the other browsers, and they are slower because of it. The designers may have decided to speed up the operation somewhat, by eliminating the need to wait for for data transfer acknowledgments. I wonder if this feature can be deselected in the "preferences" menu, (or whatever they call their setup options). I don't know how to correct it, otherwise.
Netscape uses much of the same code as Firefox. I would assume that it would work without a hitch, also.
I'll discuss this issue with the tech chief at my ISP, as soon as I can catch him in his office, but I have a hunch, it will be a tough problem to eliminate. We may have to cut down our bandwidth to do it. We'll see.
Love,
Wayne
