Hi everybody, I'm so glad to have found this forum!
I was diagnosed with LC in February of this year, its been so hard to find any information on it & my gastro consultant wasn't very helpful.
I was initially put on a 3 month course of budesonide ( 9mg for 4 weeks, 6mg for four weeks & 3mg for 4 weeks) this worked well but within weeks of stopping the symptoms started to return (in particular the dreaded stomach cramps). So I was put on to another 3 month course, the only problem being I now have chronic C instead of D!
I'm also waiting for a referral to see a rheumatologist as I am suffering from terrible pain in my hips, I've been told this is probably because of the LC - Wow its the gift that keeps on giving!
Thanks for listening
Hi Brandy, Thanks for the reply
I only have 2 weeks left on my 3 month course of budesonide (now on 3mg a day), I wish I had been warned about this when I was put on budesonide.
I guess I know for next time, I've learned something new already!

Welcome to our Internet family. As DJ mentioned, many of us have arthritis symptoms with this disease, but after we change our diet and get our digestive symptoms under control, and our intestines have some time to heal, the aches and pains almost always fade away.
Again, welcome aboard, and please feel free to ask anything.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Hi guys, Thank you for your replies, it means so much to me to hear from others who have MC.
I gave up dairy & wheat about 9 months ago, I did try cutting out gluten completely but I struggled to maintain my weight. I've lost nearly 50lbs in the past year & I'm now underweight.Interestingly I had unexplained upper abdomen pain which stopped when I gave up wheat & going lactose free has certainly helped with the bloating & gas.
I also gave up caffeine a year ago as this had a stimulant effect on my digestive system (I'm a stereotypical British person - I used to drink 10 cups of tea a day!).
I will take a closer look at my diet & try gluten free again.

I felt terrible for 8 years before finding this site, and that includes having a colonoscopy in 2012, my GI didn't know how to help me and even told me I was not celiac and that gluten didn't bother me.
I completely understand where you are coming from, and this site is a true godsend
Cheers

I too, had pain in my hips and actually got shots in each of them before my diagnosis. After going gluten and dairy free my pain is gone. Wishing the same for you.
