I wanted to share my observation with you and welcome feedback so here goes.............
I have started the South Beach Diet the first of January. I have mostly eliminated starches and anything "white" (ie, sugar, flour, bread, potatoes/starches)
I have found that I have increased some of my fiber (ie, Triscuits, flat bread, (wheat), etc.), I have also eliminated my cream soda!!! YEA!!! I drink plenty of water and diet Sprite or V8 juice. I have not eaten potatoes since beginning the diet and have not used any coatings on my meat unless using a liquid marinate sauce. No frying unless with Virgin Olive Oil. Totally changed the way I eat. Here are my observations:
I notice that if I eat a "roll up" (turkey breast, mayo and flat bread or wheat tortilla) on day one - I can not eat it the next day. The same for fresh veggies and lettuce. I am able to tolerate it but on a limited/rotation basis.
I do however feel 80% better than before the diet started. I choose to call it a better way of eating healthy as apposed to "diet" but you get my drift. I am experiencing gas and grumblings in my stomach (upper left quadrun) and occasional D. The D is also different (dark muddy color) and explosive. I am wondering if I am changing my digestive system, increasing too much fiber (wrong kind?), have developed MI's. Lots to sort out but to make a long story short, I do feel much better and the weight is slowly coming off!
