YUK. The old stomach virus hit me like a ton of bricks last night. I felt perfectly fine until about 9:30 PM and then BOOM. Up all night with watery D and vomiting. You know, where you sit on the toilet with nearly constant D and hold a bowl in your lap to puke in because everything is spewing at once. (Sorry to be so graphic, but I know you of all folks understand).
I got no sleep at all, and I lost SO much fluid. I was getting close to going the E.R for some IVs when things finally started to ease off around 6:30 AM. Finally kept some fluid done about 8:30 AM. Just now (5 PM)ate for the first time - chicken broth and rice crackers. I am just so WEAK. Am going to head back to bed and try to catch up on some zzzzzzzs.
I hope none of you get this thing. It is wicked. We always say that we MCers should be exempt from the GI bugs......... I'll vote for that!

P.S. On a brighter note, we are having a beautiful snowstorm.

Polly That's awful. I hope this is the end of it. There is a dreadful virus something like that going around out here as well. Two schools were clodsed last week because of it. Give yourself a lot of TLC & enjoy that snow storm. I have never seen one but from what you say it must be great to be tucked up warm inside & watching it all happen.

Geez Polly, That's not good! Make sure you follow doctor's orders!
Larry's sick here too. Not quite the same, mainly cough/tight chest and feels all-around crappy! I came home from work early on Friday and feel better, but no energy today.
Hope you're feeling better right quick. Catch some zzzzzzzzz's and get warm and comfy!
Hugz and a hot toddy for ya.
Love,

"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful." -- Buddha
Oh Polly (if you'll pardon the pun) what a bummer! My best buddy just got the exact same thing, she said she made herself a pasta dish full of her garden fresh onions and garlic and spiced it up big time - it made her feel much better. She didn't feel like eating, but forced it down. I hope you get some rest and get better toot-sweet bud!
No more of this ---> you my dear cannot afford to loose weight!
Love
Peg
ps thanks for the last night. It was nice to even if it was short and sweet.
What a way to start the weekend! As bad as that your night was, hopefully that was the end of it, and you are now on your way back to good health.
You know, when the United States congress writes a new law, they almost always exempt themselves from the law, no matter what it is about. (Nice work if you can get it). One would think that the AMA would try to lobby for a law to exempt doctors from getting sick.
Seriously, I hope you are through with that virus forever. None of us deserves to go through that kind of misery, after experiencing the punishment of MC.

Wayne
It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Even though we have managed to conquer a lot of symptoms as MI’s a stomach virus is always like the straw that broke the camel’s back. Enough already! Just never seems fair.
I made a big pot of vegetable soup this morning with homemade chicken stock. I would deliver it right now so consider it yours in spirit.
I know you are taking care of yourself. It takes a lot of strength sometimes so I send you some of mine.
First time I've managed to get on all day I believe. Sorry to hear you were so sick. Your description certainly brought back memories (I hope never to be there again). I'm sorry YOU had to go through that again.
Here's hoping you are feeling much better by now...in fact I hope you are catching up on your sleep and wake up back to your old self tomorrow.

Shucks, Polly..would happen on your day off!!
Sounds as though the worst is over now.
No relapses, ya hear!! Glad you were able to get some fluids down without repercussions.
Hope you are able to get better fast before you have to return to active duty!
Welp, I'm much better rested this morning. I do have a headache, which I'm sure is due to the fact that I'm still behind on fluids. Still have some D but no more vomiting, thank goodness. I think I'm gonna live.
Thanks so much for your good wishes and sympathy and offer of soup (really wish I had some of that!). You all made me feel better.
We have 16 inches of snow - what a glorious sight. It is a wet snow, so it is sticking to all of the tree branches. A winter wonderland!

Jaco, a parrot in Salzburg, could not only speak but seemed to understand grammar. Whenever his person left, Jaco would say "God be with you." But when several people were departing, Jaco would change it to "God be with all of you."
