I had never hear of MC before being diagnosed. There are times I have "pity" parties, because I get tired of dealing with it, but then I pick myself up and keep trying.

I was visiting with a friend last night and she was telling me about her pastor's son who has been diagnosed with "pan-colitis" (which I had never heard of).

After hearing what he has been dealing with and thinking about UC and Crohns.....I've decided that I should be thankful that I only have MC. Do I wish I didn't have it? Yes.

I am so thankful for this site and all of the PP, who are willing to share their experiences and offer help to each of us. THANK YOU! :bigbighug:

Hi Terre,

Pan-colitis is basically ulcerative colitis that covers the entire colon (normally it begins at the bottom end and spreads upward). Actually we have at least one member who has pan-colitis and who has controlled his symptoms by diet alone for many years. His name is Nathan, and if you are interested in how he controls his symptoms by diet (or if you think your friend's pastor's son might be interested), you can find a post by him (his username is NJ) in the thread at the following link. Post number 5 in the thread describes his case.

I agree with you — this is a miserable disease, and we are fortunate to have the support of so many others, because as bad as it is, it could always be worse.

Tex, thanks for linking me to the post. I read it and emailed it to my friend.

The young man is 23 years old and the post you sent noted that young man was 19 years old.....too young to be dealing with this.

....and yes, it could always be worse....we just have to lift our heads and look around and know we have much to be thankful for. I go into a store and see someone in a wheelchair, then I see an adult with a disabled child....I could go on and on.
