Pain

Post by dolson »

My right-sided pain under my right breast hurts. It radiates around to the back sometimes. I thought I had a broken rib. That's how much it hurt. Had an X-Ray and no broken ribs.

I am concerned because the first thing you think is the C word - CANCER! It seems to come and go. When it comes back, the pain can be bad. I just knew I had a broken rib, since I had a fall. Before the fall I had minor pain that I ignored.

Could y'all tell me what it could be and is it related to Microscopic Colitis? Any help is appreciated. I will not go to a GI specialist in Savannah. May head out to Statesboro, if y'all think it sounds serious.

Thanks, Dorothy

Hi Dorothy,

If you can feel the pain in back also, that sounds like a kidney stone, or a UTI that has spread to a kidney. If the pain were more centered (just below the breastbone), begins soon after a meal that contains some fat, and lasts about 6–8 hours (after a meal), it could be a gallbladder issue. But if the fall was on that side, it might just be a bruised rib.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
