I want to post my yearly update to let everyone know how my colitis is going. It was my 4 year anniversary from finding you and starting my diet a couple of days ago. I am doing well for the most part and eating a lot more variety of foods. I am still gluten free, chicken egg free (unless I treat myself to a gelato which is rare), oat free, walnut free, and eat mostly everything from fresh or frozen. I started taking zyrtec (liquid gel caps) in March due to allergy season and didn't miss a day until recently when I decided to stop because the pollen levels have lowered, it dries me out, I hate taking any medication, and I felt like it was causing bloating and weight gain. I have to say that while taking it, my life was very normal and I felt wonderful.
After coming off of the zyrtec, it has put me into a little colitis and IC flare due to histamines I believe or due to a shock to my system. I so wished I could figure out how to solve my histamine intolerance without having to take these much drying out antihistamines. Until then, I may have to start back on them or continue convincing my family to move to the beach.
I am still using magesium oil, vitamin d drops (which are very potent, last time I checked my d3 level was 86 so I had to decrease), and sublingual b-complex. I am hoping to see if i can find omega 3 drops to help with my memory loss or 100 mile/hour mind.
I have been going through the pre-menopausal stages and for the most part it has not been too bad. It is actually quite nice other than the small weight gain and metabolism change. I believe my constant use of magnesium has really helped.
I so hope to find everyone doing well! For those just starting this journey, the diet is so worth it and I hope you find comfort from my update in knowing that this day will come for you. Just stick to it and realize it takes a lot of time and effort, and constant tweaking. I never thought I would get to this point either after being so sick and getting hit with other sicknesses while trying to find wellness.
I am going back to work into the school system again part time until my oldest is driving. I stayed healthy this passed school year for the most part, and I truly believe it was due to my vitamin d3 levels. I will never stop those supplements and am so glad I found one to work with my IC.
Please let me know if you have found any vitamin supplements that have helped with your histamine intolerance!
Thanks again for continuing to help all of those out there who struggle with this!
Much love,
