I am hoping that you can give me some advice. Yesterday, I walked in a fundraiser to raise money for the Dana Farber Cancer Center in Boston in the Jimmy Fund Marathon walk. This is the fourth time I have walked this fundraiser but without question, it was the most difficult due to the unusually high temperatures we had yesterday (around 90 degrees). Much of the walk was in direct sunlight and even with a hat and sunscreen, it was brutal. They provide a wonderful lunch and are careful to have food for people with allergies. I brought my own (almond butter/rice cake sandwiches, almond crackers) as I didn't want to take a chance. They offered water and snack stations throughout the route - my teammates were grabbing bottles of "Body Armour", which has electrolytes to help with hydration. I stuck with water and apparently didn't drink enough. I made it to the finish line but ended up in the Medical Tent for awhile as I was overheated and dehydrated. Is there anything I could have drank that might have hydrated me better along the route?
I feel as if I only post when I'm "in need" so I do want to thank you all for the wonderful information that I get by reading the posts. I cannot even begin to imagine what my life would be like now without the guidance I have gotten from you.
