Hi All,
I think I may be having a delayed (or possibly accumulative) reaction to something I’m eating and in spite of our finely honed detective skills, I have not been able to figure out what prompts an occasional bloating/ gas/ loose stools episode. (A couple of years ago I thought I could eat cheese again and it took 6 weeks for it set off a flare, so I have experience with accumulative or delayed reactions.).

I decided to have my Enterolab tests run again. When I went to the Enterolab website I was able to get the combined A and C panels for $399, rather than the $537 stated on their website. I believe I registered first, then the pricing was displayed. It’s listed as Holiday Specials (do people order poop tests for each other as gifts?

) but the savings are decent, so if anyone has been putting off getting Enterolab tests due to price, this is probably the best price available. See the snip below that I copied and pasted from their website:

Do you know if enterolb gives you a bill? This is the only way a can get a reimbursement from my company in Mexico

You do have to of course pay in advance, but I just logged into my Enterolab account and there is a detailed invoice there that you can print out for reimbursement purposes. Hope this helps!

I just went on the Enterolab website. If you are not registered and don't have an account, you will see their regular price of $539 for these two tests.

But once you register and login, you will see 2019 HOLIDAY SPECIALS (which is what Carol was referencing) when looking at what tests to order.

I think everyone must actually register to order as there are a bunch of fields they need to process your order correctly, so I would register and order online after you have completed the registration. If you don't want to register and create an account, you might be able to do it via phone with one of their customer service reps. If you do it that way, then just ask about the HOLIDAY SPECIAL pricing and I'm sure they would give the discount pricing to you...

I have finally ordered my Enterolab Results!!!!!!!! Can wait to have it, really need it. Do you recommend to eat gluten dairy and all the things I will be tested for?

Hi Ingrid,
I had been gluten free, dairy free and soy free for 4 months before I took my Enterolab tests and they still showed me to be reacting to gluten, dairy, soy and eggs. So, don’t put yourself at risk to get sicker just to take your tests. The antibodies will likely still be in your system. Gluten antibodies are still present even 6 months after going gluten free. That’s why it takes strict adherence to a gluten free diet for several months before people see any changes. I don’t know the exact numbers but if I recall correctly I believe the antibodies for casein, soy and albumin (eggs) are still present about 3 months after they been ingested.

I’d say keep eating whatever you are comfortable eating but if you know a food makes you sick, don’t eat it just for the Enterolab tests.
I even took Budesonide for those 4 months prior to my testing. Enterolab had a nurse who I called so I could check on how long I needed to be off Budesonide before testing. Even that was only a couple of weeks.

I would like to order the Enterolab testing for my wife, Charlene, but I understand that you cannot have test while on Budesonide. Is that correct? She has been on the Bud for one month now.

Hi Ingrid,

The EnteroLab tests can usually detect gluten antibodies (anti-gliadin antibodies) up to two years after you cut gluten out of your diet. The tests will always detect gluten antibodies if gluten has only been avoided for one year. Carol is right on the money for the other food sensitivities, but the tests are extremely sensitive to gluten, because the half-life of gluten antibodies is 120 days. The half-life of most other food antibodies is only five or six days.

So please don't eat any gluten. The test will be accurate for you without doing that.

Hi Paul,

As long as she has been using budesonide for only a few months, the EnteroLab tests will be accurate. After a few more months of budesonide use, though, the tests will begin to lose sensitivity and could give some false negative results. After ten or twelve months, for example, the tests would be very unreliable.

Paul, I took Budesonide for 4 1/2 months total, then went ahead with the Enterolab testing after I called and talked to a nurse at Enterolab. That was eight years ago but it seems like I only had to be off Budesonide for a couple of weeks. I remember being pleasantly surprised that I didn’t have to wait on the tests.
Enterolab probably still has a helpline you can call or email to get their advice on your wife’s situation. It certainly gave me peace of mind to know my results would still be valid.
