Hi All,
I am a new member. This is new to me - using a forum - so bear with me if I don't get it right away!
I have always been very health conscious, active, and driven but have had issues with, what I was told was, IBS many years. 25 years maybe now. Started while traveling throughout South East Asia. I blamed it on the fresh coconuts!
In the last 10 years I have kept going back and forth to the doctor thinking it was more than IBS but felt 'written off'. No, just IBS. I had left a very unhealthy relationship and assumed then, that the worsening of my health problems was aggravated by the stress from that and ongoing trouble with the ex. I was also a single parent and the sole caregiver to our two children. But, inside, felt there was more to it than that. In the last few years I have had trouble working. Extreme fatigue, chronic anemia, anxiety, constant trips to the bathroom (sometimes the bush!), urgent bowel movements, aching joints, awful abdominal pain, constant ache in my side, etc. I left my job in the need to get better, I was so run down and sick I could barely leave the house when I could leave the house. My Dr. wanted to put me on antidepressants! I am not depressed!! I love life and have always lived it to the fullest (when my body let me). Finally in March of this year, when I started passing blood in my stool, my Dr. decided to send me for a colonoscopy where lymphatic colitis was diagnosed. The bleeding was from internal hemorrhoids I was told.
That is brought me here. This website has be awesome - thank you. Because of the little information and help I have received from my doctors, I have done a lot of research, and still have never felt completely... validated with my experience to date until coming across this site. Finally, people that understand!
I hope to get back to work soon. I have started seeing a naturopathic practitioner and she has helped a lot. It is definitely getting better. Trying to sort out my diet, what I can and can't eat. Raw veggies and fruit are out for sure!
Looking forward learning more and thank-you all for sharing your experiences and creating this website.

Hi Ann-Marie,
Welcome to the group. Wow! It's tough to decide whether your ex or your past doctors have been responsible for doing the most damage to your health over the years, but among them, they have managed to do an outstanding job of making your life miserable. I hope that we can help you to get on the path back to good health.
Again, welcome aboard, and please feel free to ask anything.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hi Ann- Marie,
Welcome to our internet family. You are smart to listen to your own instincts and know there was more wrong and changes needed to be made. You’ve come to the right place to get the best advice from people who are living it.
Best wishes,
Carol

Welcome Ann-Marie! This forum has helped so many folks; indeed a lot of good information and good people that truly understand what we are going through.
Diet is for sure the key to long term GI health with MC. Many of us have used a drug called "Budesonide" for a period of time to reduce GI inflammation and get to that point of healing where it can be diet alone to take us the rest of the way and into long term remission where I am.
Gluten seems to be the enemy of most all of us with MC. After that, there are many other food sensitivities that can be in play. Lots of threads on all of this; check the entire forum out and use the SEARCH function. Be careful not to take too many supplements while your GI is healing; many including myself have found that while well intended, they can actually bother the GI tract.
All the best and be sure to keep us updated. We're all in this together!
