An update

Post by CathyMe. »

I was diagnosed in 2012, been gf/df/soyfree, etc. since then and had been in remission until 2.5 weeks ago when I vomitted and then was back in a flare. I have been able to slowly get out of my flare, taking 1 Imodium at night, massage weekly and acupuncture treatments weekly. I do have an appointment with a new GI (Dr. Nagri) in two weeks but am thinking I may need to cancel that as I am feeling good. So grateful for this board as I was in panic mode and have now realized, I got this!!

Awesome! I always love it when a GI appointment can be cancelled. I've occasionally pushed appointments back 8 weeks and then cancelled.

Great update!

Great! I agree with Bandy. That's the kind of update that we love to see.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

This is great news Cathy! I was just looking for your previous post to ask how you were doing, when I found this. Thanks for sharing.

Carol
PS- it’s easy to get into panic mode when a flare starts. The gut flare messes up our serotonin levels, fueling our worry. Certainly has happened to me before (and probably will again).

Thanks everyone for the good wishes. Carol, I immediately found myself in almost a panic attack, brought back very bad memories of when I was suffering and wow, hadn't felt like that in years. Incredible what this disease does to our bodies.

Cathy- I have actually been reading up on PTSD following serious (life changing) illness. It’s a real thing and not something we can underestimate IMO. Most of the studies were done with people who’d had a stroke or heart attack but the common factors were dealing with a sudden onset, a lack of control over one’s body and a change in lifestyle as a result. 🤔. I certainly think those factors apply to some of us and although most of the time we function well, I realize I have a great deal more anxiety now, whereas I rarely dealt with anxiety prior to the onset of my LC. And of course when those same conditions arise we get flooded with those feelings again.

So glad you are better. 🙂

Hi, Cathy. So glad that you're feeling better! It is such a slippery slope that we're on.
