So now all the tests are in. Vit D a bit on the low side but Mag looks ok to me. I have settled on 4000 UI of D for the next while, just over 100mcg of K2(the non soy MK 7 version) and 200 mg of topical Mag (divided, 100mg in the morning and at night) and hope that’s a good recipe.
25 Hydroxy Vit D was 74 (range is 75-150 nmol/L)
RBC Mag was 2.02 (range is 1.65-2.52 nmol/L)
I also saw this really good explanation for how D works with K, calcium and Mag and even vit A

My VitD and RBC Mag results and a good article about Vit D

Thanks Gabes,
I will keep that in mind about the magnesium. I knew that the RBC was better than the serum test but, yes, they are all a bit off aren’t they? I will continue with my topical regime :
Food is getting better. Just made a big batch of buckwheat crepes, and they turned out really nice. Now to invent tasty fillings!

It takes 3-6 months to set up mc food routine. Once you have your staples etc figured out it becomes the norm.
Your tastebuds/brain adjust.
I remember when I joined the lovely Gloria talked about the switch. There is a point in the healing journey when your brain switches and you don't crave ingredients you used to love before MC.
Sometimes you will smell other people's foods and go mmmmm, Xxx, I miss that food. But within 20 -30 seconds you don't want it. You don't want the poop issues, the bloat, the joint pain, the foggy brain. And the thought goes.
I know that cereal flour based items are a big part of USA eating culture, and generally are easier.
I focus on my meals having nutritional benefit.
Lots of veges have Vit C, Vit A etc. protein is a key part of healing. Try to make sure that all meals including snacks have some protein.
The east coast of Australia is rejoicing a bit, we have had some drought breaking rain the past 2 days. Good enough to put out some of the fires that have been burning for 2+ months. Sadly it has caused flooding for some areas, albeit after the past few months of horrendous fires and towns with no water no-one is game to complain.
I am about to go out, hunt and gather some ingredients as it is cool enough to do big cook up.

I agree Gabes, once you change an eating habit, the cravings do go away. I remember a long time ago, giving up sugar. It was very difficult at first, and now I cannot handle sweet at all. I tried a few of those coffee creamers and the sweet factor was through the roof, so I make my own, half full fat coconut milk and half almond milk. And strangely like my coffee better black, so just use my mix in a cup of decaf tea after dinner.
A trend here on the island (and other places I am sure) is grain free. That’s what I like about my buckwheat as an ingredient, it is actually a fruit seed! So am lucky that a lot of people here already follow that lifestyle (a lot of Paleo) and there are a lot of alternative products available.
Been following the fires on the news, I can’t even imagine, devastating. A group of women here were sewing little pouches for the orphaned critters and sending them to Australia. The loss of wild life and domestic animals was pretty horrific to see. And of course, just all of it. Glad to hear of the rain!
