My story: Right after Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts, I began having WD. I was with my daughters and mom for a little getaway for her 80th birthday. It was great fun, and I ate EVERYTHING. At the time, I thought it might have to do with eating a "poke bowl", with different seaweeds and barely seared fish. It was delicious! WD continued, so went to MD. All blood and stool tests were negative. Had colonoscopy with biopsies, and 2 weeks later, diagnosed with CC. Went on Entercort, found this forum, bought the book, and dove in.
Predisposition and contributing factors: I'm 59, am an RN, have had fibromyalgia for years, arthritis, and some sort of collagen/vascular problem. Positive for HLA-B27 gene which is associated with psoriatic arthritis. I'm beginning to to think many of my long-standing issues are tied to MC. So, for the last couple of decades, I've been taking NSAIDS (aspirin & naprosyn), Prevacid, and Prozac. I've discontinued all NSAIDS and Prevacid (ugh, the heartburn) and am weaning off Prozac.
When my husband & I did an elimination diet-no soy, gluten, dairy, eggs, peanuts, corn or sugar, I felt good, arthritis and other symptoms decreased and I lost weight! We've done it a couple of times, with same results. I was pretty sure that gluten was a culprit, so tried to eat gluten-free bread, but I'm sure I was getting it in other things.
For the last 6 wks., I've only been eating bone broth, chicken, white potatoes, sweet potatoes, white rice, banana, avocado and the pretty tasty butter substitute I found on here.
I thought I should introduce myself before I started asking for advice, whining or ranting
Best, Lui
