Magnesium/fat malabsorption/osteoporosis

Hi Tex and all!

Since my diagnosis of osteoporosis I’ve been searching for ways to reverse this without pharmaceutical drugs.
I’ve increased my enzymes, and doing better.

Before I do Enterolab’s malabsorption test, I am supposed to avoid my magnesium/calcium supplements for a week.
In doing this I’m constipated!

Do you know why I have to avoid mag/cal?

Magnesium interacts with so many things, especially antibiotics and various other drugs, that it may somehow skew the malabsorption test results, but that's just a guess.

How’s the weather in Texas? It’s a snowy winter here in PA!

I figured PA was getting a lot of snow. We had the first decent rain in months, a little over a week ago. Otherwise, we've been in a major drought for almost all of 2020. Although we had a little cold weather for a month or so before Christmas, we've been warmer than normal since then. The counties north and west of us had a taste of snow a week or so ago, but our temperatures stayed above freezing, so we got a little mist and drizzle, instead. The weather systems you're getting up there seem to be side-swiping us, but the cold air never quite makes it this far down. Not that I'm complaining. We reached the low 70s today.

Hope you don't get snowed in.

I reckon I spoke too soon. Maybe I should have just kept my mouth shut (or kept my fingers off the keyboard). This morning we got probably 4 or 5 inches of snow. The amazing part is that the national weather service predicted it correctly a week ago. That almost never happens down here. They may predict it, but it rarely happens.

Oh my goodness! At least you know it will be short lived!

We are going up to 40 degrees tomorrow, which is a treat for January!

At least I can walk in the woods in the winter, as the ticks are not active....what a world!

Did you make a snowman ?

I didn't make a snowman, but that was a pretty popular pastime, because it was really wet snow and it stuck together about as well as possible. I noticed on the TV news that a group of kids even built an igloo.

Speaking of ticks, there's a silver lining to every cloud. The imported fire ants are really bad pests down here, but despite all their negative attributes, they've almost eradicated the tick problem in many parts of Texas. For a couple of decades, it appeared that the ticks were gone for good, but the fire ants had a couple of bad years due to weather issues, and a few ticks managed to get started again here and there.

It's frustrating the way that many perfectly nice species become extinct, while pests seem to survive forever.
