First solo trip since diagnosis

Post by Littlesandy »

I was diagnosed in the fall of 2021 with Lymphocytic Collitis. To my doctor's credit he took me off a proton pump inhibitor and NSAID's. But he gave me little further advice. I stumbled around for a year or more trying to figure out how to get better and discovered the MC foundation and Wayne Persky's books. Then I spent another year discovering that I'm very sensitive to cross contamination and menu items on restaurant menu's may not be what they say they are. I utilized Enterolab testing and fine tuned my diet with the help of my very able wife. It took a long time to see results, probably because I am 74 and I probably had symptoms for a long time before diagnosis.

The big impact of MC on my life has been the fatigue. Mine happens at a level I have not experienced before.

But I am glad to report that I just got back from a solo trip by car to Montana to attend a memorial for a very good friend. I took all of my own food and did not let anything off my diet cross my lips. It was a confidence builder - no fatigue, no diarrhea and the stamina to drive for hours and then engage socially.

Thanks to you all for pioneering this approach to getting our lives back, particularly to Wayne for capturing so much information and experience in his books.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
