Budesonide plus supplements

Post by ingridj »

I have started budesonide 5 days ago. How long before it kicks in? Someone mentioned I should stop all vitamins /supplements while I am taking it. Your thoughts on this please.

In my opinion, taking supplements while you're taking budesonide shouldn't matter (as far as the budesonide is concerned) unless they contain gluten. Most MC patients taking budesonide (assuming that you started with a full dose, and you're taking it first thing in the morning) reach remission within a week or two. Based on the experience that our members have shared with us, if achieving remission while taking budesonide takes longer than a month, even if remission is achieved, it will probably tend to be borderline unstable. Research shows that budesonide is effective for roughly 60 to 80% of MC patients, depending upon the particular study selected.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
