Hi Laine. I loved your 2Cents Worth! Also, ALL suggestions from the forum are on the table because we know things can change.Your high spirited post cheered me up so I decided to do more research. Using (AI) Chat GPT (spelled incorrectly in my last Post) I decided to ask how does Cholestyramine control diarrhea?
Here is the response. “ Cholestyramine works best if it is taken before bile is released into the intestine with a meal. Timing makes a big difference since its job is to bind bile acids in the intestine before they can cause diarrhea. Usually, it’s recommended
30-60 minutes before eating.” With some reservation nine days ago,
I took this advice and have had great success ever since with three meals and just three Cholestyramine packets for my turkey feasts! I set a timer for forty minutes, splitting the difference which has worked for me. What a shock it is to poop regular stool. Honestly, I hold my breath every morning hoping it’s the new norm.
There are lots of questions in my head about “what’s next if this trend continues?
The ground organic Diestel turkey I eat is very high quality. My favorite is the dark meat with good flavor. I slice the tube shape into medallions and sauté them in olive oil.
My go-to Mg oil brand is The Heart of Tradition Full Spectrum. It’s also good for aches and pains.
My oral vitamins seem to be treating me well. I have fingernails that don’t split and break for the first time in years.
Hope this can help anyone. Thank you Laine, TEX, John and Forum Folks

Re: Need Cholestyramine Advice
Glad to hear things are going well. I honestly eat whatever I want anymore-and truly, adding food back into my diet was both terrifying and anxiety inducing!!! I think I "jumped the shark" at Commander's Palace in New Orleans when I added shrimp and whatever other seafood was on the table-mind you, I had been pretty well controlled for a few months at that point but hadn't really liberalized my diet much. Again, I'm not claiming to be perfect...but I am well enough to travel internationally nowadays. I hope you continue to improve!!

Re: Need Cholestyramine Advice
Hi Laine I meant to ask if you are in remission? Sounds like it. I’m only four months into recovery so having this success is a baby step and a significant mental health bonus. The Entero stool test results indicated sensitivities in all fifteen categories. I’d love to think I can attain remission some day. Happy trails to you. With gratitude, Barbara
Re: Need Cholestyramine Advice
I personally don't use or like the word REMISSION. It makes it sound so final and certain. In my line of work, people are in REMISSION and then the cancer comes back and kills them. Sorry to be Debbie Downer here....I just say I'm controlled. Not perfect, just controlled. The amount of cholestyramine I take varies-for whatever reasons I will never know and haven't been able to figure out!! For me to get to where I am now-it took a few years of trial/error and several serious mis-steps.
I do think (in desperation) people tend to want to juggle "too many balls" at once with what they are trying, to get things to improve. Sorry folks, but once you have MANY variables you are messing around with at once, you can't really know what is helping and what isn't. I recommend dealing with one thing at a time. It's how I figured out that cholestyramine alone was not the miracle cure for me-once I added Betaine HCl and then eventually just one digestive enzyme pill per meal-I got my best results. I've tried cutting them down or to eliminate them-things start to slowly start going the wrong direction with poop. Lesson learned.
I'm a slow learner, but a "plodder" so I just keep putting one foot in front of the other!
