Hi there tex and co its beens a while since ive been on here about a year maybe because ive generally been ok and in remission.. but recently im having strange changes without having actually changed anything.. Its different from before .. Im having generally good BM in the morning but this is followed but short bout of WD a few hours later.. i also have a LOT of bloating. This has started happening a few times a week and has knocked my confidence. I really havnt changed anything about my diet of lifestyle , im perhaps more stressed / worried atm but cant nothing out of the odinary..
Is there anything that comes to mind? Im starting to question if mold might be a problem or histamine. i was taking vitamin c which i know helps with histamine breakdown but stopped a few months ago.. not sure.
Any thoughts would be great. could it be microbiome related?

Re: Strange symptoms
Those symptoms are a sign of increasing inflammation, and a red flag warning that it's time to try to track down the cause of the problem. It's possible that the problem might be due to accumulating histamines causing histamines sensitivity, but the first thing I would look at is everything that I put in my mouth. I would look first at any processed or manufactured foods. Manufacturers sometimes change suppliers of ingredients, and that's an even greater possibility now because of supply chain disruptions. And foods that aren't normally naturally gluten-free are sometimes cross contaminated by sloppy handling somewhere along the line during processing. And don't forget to check out supplements and any regular medications. I'm assuming you do your own cooking, but if you eat out, you'll probably find the problem there.
If you can't spot anything suspicious, trying eliminating (or severely restricting) all high histamine foods for a few days, to see if there's any improvement. It might help to keep a food/reaction journal, especially if the symptoms vary somewhat from day to day.
But don't overlook the stress angle, or write it off, because stress (especially chronic stress) has a very strong impact on our immune system, and therefore our reactions. And remember, all of these things, when combined, can cause a relapse at much lower levels, because the effects are cumulative.
I hope this helps,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
