Thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone! Even got a lovely phone call from Barbara - what a wonderful surprise - she even serenaded me
We technically celebrated this weekend - Mike and I went out shopping (well, I went shopping - he tagged along

) and out to Chang's for dinner. Dinner was a bit disappointing - the food was fine, but it's still new, and the service needs some improvement! Also the tables are *very* close - and they sat a VERY loud party of 6 next to us - very rowdy and exhibiting sports-bar-like behavior. Finally, the people on the other side of us sent a representative over to ask then to keep it down - it was strangely awkward - so we just had them box up the rest of our food - so much for a leisurely dinner
Then, my neighbor was going to take me out to lunch today, but called to postpone, as she had a kid home

today....so I was feeling sorta "woe is me" - but then my mom called, and she and my dad offered to pinch hit, so they came down to take Elyse and I to lunch! We reminisced about "40 years ago today... "(trivia note - Super Bowl I was 1/22/67 - my mom went into labor during the game - they went to the hospital after that, and I was born the next morning - that is how my dad remembers my age

- current Super Bowl # - 1) After lunch, Elyse helped me bake my cake...
I had marathon tutoring today (finals week is to tutors like early April is to accountants!) and between clients I got phone calls from my MIL, and Barbara!! I got home from my last client @ 8:30, and we had cake, and my best friend had sent a beautiful bouquet of flowers!! So all in all, despite a rocky start, it was a nice day.
And I've decided 40 will be fabulous!
