It's only about 800 miles from El Paso to Texarkana. You mean one stop isn't enough? LOL.
You may be asking the wrong one for help, 'cause I don't exactly see eye-to-eye with most politicians, so I don't think they're likely to pay much attention to anything I ask for.
I've noticed the same thing, though - the rest stops are few and far between in this state.
TXDOT is too busy trying to turn all the highways in Texas into toll roads, so they don't seem to have any time available to build rest stops.

Good one! Hahahahaha. They might have been planning on that, but the legislature finally noticed what was going on, so they may nip that program in the bud.
Liz,
Maybe they think that everyone wears one of those ten gallon hats, like they used to have in the old western movies. LOL.

There's alot of things that need to be designed by women....no offense men. But I have to agree. I have no qualms about stopping by a somer tree . (trees) some are for men some are for women. But that's why they call me calamity I guess. Love Oma
May I be more compassionate and loving than yeterday*and be able to spot the idiots in advance
We changed our route to OK to visit the kids because of the lack of decent restrooms and gas stations.. we use Route 35 instead of 45 now:)
Texas lacks decent signs for roads too.... so many highways are always under construction we can count on getting lost at least 2 or three times when passing through major cities...LOL
grannyh
I agree with that. Missing road signs are really the pits. I once got lost in Memphis, Tennessee, for about an hour and a half, because of a missing road sign in a construction area. I finally had to, (believe it or not), stop and ask someone for directions, or I might still be there. LOL.

I too am one who will pass on the rest areas - especially early Monday after a holiday weekend - to go behind them in the trees. Funny thing is we were just talking with about this with our friends while we were in VA this weekend. She was horrified to hear I would use the trees but then said nothing I do would surprise her.
Tex, please have them get more rest stops before I do my birding trip in TX. Contemplating a possible 2008 trip for vacation.
Love, Maggie

Ha Ha, I've had to use one too many portajohns on construction sites to be bothered much by rest area rest rooms. Although, VT has very clean ones. The rest rooms in the mall by the end of the day do gross me out though.
