I needed to stop and pick up some supples today, while making a delivery, and since I was in a big truck, (which can't be parked just anywhere), I stopped at a Wal-mart Supercenter. While I was there, I thought about the gluten-free Chex that had been mentioned here, a few days ago, so I checked out that section, and sure enough - there they were.
I carefully read the ingredient list, noted the Gluten-Free checkbox right on the front of the box, and since everything seemed to be in order, I grabbed a second box, while I was at it, and headed for checkout. When I got home, I set them on a shelf, and went on with my regular work.
I was so impressed to find a bona fide gluten-free product, right there in the general cereal section of a major store, (and priced at a little more than a third of what I had been paying for similar products at a HF store), that later in the day, I decided to "drool over" the box again. However, when I picked one up, I couldn't find the "Gluten-free" statement on the front of the box, and when I checked the ingredient list, there was the familiar "Malted" ingredient that's in virtually all common cereals.
Yep, failure to "watch my business" had done me in again. Obviously, the store still had some old product on the shelf, and I had grabbed an old one, without even considering that possibility, (even though someone here had specifically warned about that, just a few days ago. LOL). Oh well, at least I have one box that I can try.
Love,
Tex
