Calling TRACE

About a year or so ago----I lost my sense of TASTE and SMELL--Nobody seems to really know WHY---but possibilty of the thyroid condition that was discovered---

Thus my Xcitement over TASTING chocolate the other day---

My next *thrill* will be to TASTE ICE-CREAM----and to smell COFFEE brewing---

I do eat my meals but it is *shove* it in---and thats that!!! Gotta survive~~

Went to a Bar-B-Q yesterday---and the food was awesome---so my hubby tells me ---he feels badly when I am asked ---*isnt this delicious* and I *sneer* back @ him--
Never mind franks and burgers ---this was an *ITALIAN* meal-- never mind a Bar-B-Q

How awful for you! I am a "taste" eater...even if the item is something I love...if it's overseasoned..I won't/can't eat it. I'm not sure how I would be if I couldn't taste it.... I am excited for you...there's nothing like eating chocolate and tasting it!! Oh and the ice cream...coffee ice cream! Strawberry ice cream....

And smell, I've noticed mine is wacky right now b/c of the smoke, smog, heat, and dust. (Isn't CA great?????) But, if something is really fragrant, I can make it out.

Did you notice a gradual loss of sense or was it really quick? Thyroids are odd bugs. My DH is testing right now b/c of tachycardia and high blood pressure...I'm going to ask about his smell and taste!

I believe it was a gradual loss but as it was *gradually* dimishing I didnt notice until the one morning when I didnt smell my coffee perking---and NOT tasting (specially that I use the flavored ones)--I was very upset!!!

What Lou does everyso often is this----*Barbara--close your eyes and see if U can tell what I am testing U with*
And I sit there swirling my tongue around to try and find a *FLAVOR* and then I look @ L. and ---
He does the thing and then I crack up-----

Barbara, You made me laugh!! I was reminded of a recent dinner we attended. My hubby is employed by a major winery...and often people entertain by having wine tastings...I can't drink wine. We think it's the sulfites. But I especially don't care for the smell of red wines. ANyway, they swirl, they swish, they sniff...and then they say something all poetic-like....."oh..it's rasberry with a hint of oak"...

So there was a dinner, and we are all sitting around the table. The wine is poured. Everyone is swirling, oohing and ahhing, tasting at the far end....suddenly it's quiet on our end of the table. I'm looking at everyone , and they look horrified. My hubby says. "Sniff this" You didnt' need to be an expert to smell it! Rotten tennis shoes. Ick!!! You probably could have smelled it!!!!

Just remember...there may be some smelly smells not worth smelling!!!
