We are having our Thanksgiving Dinner today.

My sister is here and I am going with her on a short trip leaving Monday about noon and returning as early as possible on Wednesday because I have an appointment in the afternoon to have a 2nd mammogram. I'm not very upset about this because I know lots of women are "recalled". Also, the person taking the Xrays mentioned that the equipment was now digital. I did a little research and read that the radiologists are seeing "more things" with the digital equipment so when they compare the pictures with the prior ones they are bringing in a lot more people for further testing. The person who called me said they wanted another mammogram and possibly a cat scan. If I get called for the cat scan, I may not be as calm. HaHa

I remember what CAMary went through and what a wonderful attitude and outlook she had. She was amazing. A real role model.

Anyway, I just wanted to make sure I wished everyone a Happy Thanksgiving in case I don't get back on the computer right away.

Oh Shirley,
I really know how scary a 2nd mammo is. I'll be sending positive thoughts and prayers your way, along with Happy Thanksgiving wishes. You are wise not to get too shook up, these new digital mammos are simply amazing and pick up every little shadow. So many woman are going back twice with these. Please let us know.

Best of luck with the second exam. Mammography is notorious for false positives, so as the tests become ever more sensitive, as you say, they are bound to see "areas" that will require further checking, to establish a new "baseline".

As someone who has been "assumed" by my doctors to have colon cancer, twice, I certainly understand your concern, but remember that doctors are conditioned to suspect cancer, anytime anything deviates from what they consider to be the "norm".

I bought a big truck in Jacksonville, a few days ago, (on eBay, of all places :lol: ), and as soon as I receive the title in the mail, I need to make plans to go there and drive it back here. I looked up your address, thinking that it might be close by, but I see that it's 225 miles away, so I reckon that precludes trying to arrange a meeting - maybe next time. A few years ago, I bought one in Selmer, Tennessee, so I'm definitely getting closer each time. LOL.

I'll be in Bonita Springs, Florida Jan. 1st- Jan. 10th, but I think it would be a 3-4 hour drive south of Jacksonville.
Gosh!! How many hours drive will that be for you driving back??

I'll probably need to go move it pretty soon, or they'll start charging around 250 bucks a week for storage, (to encourage me to get it off their lot. :lol: ). Besides, I need the truck, since my old delivery truck developed a fatal engine problem. :sad:

According to mapquest, it will take around 17 hours to drive, but it usually takes longer in a truck, of course.

That's a shame. You can't have too many holidays. LOL. May be it's just a "New World" tradition. Canada celebrates Thanksgiving, also, but they do it on October 13th.

Hi Shirley,
You're quite an amazing lady to be wishing us a happy thanksgiving. Your positive attitude is an inspiration. I've been thinking about you and the holidays, knowing they will be so different for you and hoping they'll be o.k.
I've had 2, call backs on mammos. It is unnerving. Both times I was sent home with good news. I'll be praying for you. Please let us know.
