I'm Back.....

Post by starfire »

I just read the responses to my post about Thanksgiving and the mammo recall. Thank you all so much for all the encouragement and good wishes.

The recall appointment was lengthy to say the least. After about 2 hours of repeated mammo xrays and an echogram, they sent me home with almost no explanations but I am grateful that they tried to be very through. The lady who did the echogram said she didn't think it was "anything" but she was the only one who really told me anything. I guess they figure that if they let you go without further apt's you know you are "OK". I believe they took a total of 12 "pics" besides the echogram. They ought to have a super baseline now. HaHa

Tex, I would have loved to meet you somewhere. Unfortunately, it is about 3 hours to Jacksonville from here. I would be willing to drive it though if we could work it out. Have lunch or dinner or a snack & coffee. HaHa You have probably already picked up the truck or will be doing so very soon.

The trip to the Keys was OK but I'm not anxious to do it again for such a short time. I did enjoy being with my Sister and her friend and his family were very nice also. Between that and the mammo apt on Wed. I was totally wiped out yesterday. Still feel very tired today.

The work on my house is almost done. Just a few more details to take care of. Should be done in one more day except for the carpet cleaning which will be done by a different person. Wanted that done last, of course. Still nothing from the insurance company. Hope to at least get a call next week if not a check.

That's about it for now, I suppose........

Need to go read a few more posts.

Hi Shirley,

No, I haven't picked it up yet. The biggest obstacle I seem to have is logistics, or scheduling. I'm still waiting to receive the title for the truck, because the broker, (in California), apparently forgot to tell the right person in his organization to send it, after I wired them the money. He finally sent it a week late, on Wednesday, (after I e-mailed him about it), but he sent it by DHL, and DHL doesn't have much of a presence in this area, (every delivery that they have made to me, to date, has been almost exactly two weeks after they called from the nearest warehouse, 50 miles away, asking for local delivery directions). <sigh> Since this one is supposed to be a guaranteed second-day delivery, we'll see what happens, I suppose. I see that they also have my last name entered completely wrong, on their tracking site, but hopefully the address is correct, though they don't show it. <sigh>

If I ever receive it, (which will probably be on Monday or Tuesday, due to the holiday and weekend), I'll need to take care of the title transfer and registration, and then I'll try to locate a car rental agency that will allow me to pick up the car somewhere in this part of the world, and drop it off reasonably close to where I need to go. When I arrive, I'll have to check out the truck, and make sure that it doesn't have to have new batteries, tires, lights, or anything else that would keep me from making the trip back home, (or passing a DOT inspection at any of the many truck check stations along the route), before I turn in the rental car. And, of course, if any repair work needs to be done, I will have to do it. All that, plus the fact that all sorts of things can happen on a thousand mile plus trip, makes it pretty tough to pin down a reasonably accurate schedule. <sigh> Who knows, though, maybe everything will go smoothly, (if I ever get that title).

I would hate to see you go to the trouble and expense, (and highway risk, for that matter), of driving that far, just to meet with the likes of a no-good, ne'r-do-well, such as myself, who can't even figure out a reasonably accurate schedule. At best, I suppose we would have to see what happens, and play it by ear.

Love,
Tex

Man!!! What an undertaking!!! I hope you LOVE the truck!!!

"At best, I suppose we would have to see what happens, and play it by ear." ........ sounds like a plan, sort of (HaHa).

I'll bet I'm just as "no-good" and "ne'r-do-well" as you are.

Good Luck with everything.

Hi Wayne,
Somehow I sent a private message, I thought, to Shirley, and it ended up on the thread about your truck.
Is there any way you could forward that to Shirley privately while removing that from the public thread.
How did I do that, anyway! Ha!
Thanks, and good luck with that truck!
Sincerely, Luce/Nancy
