McCormick restaurants

Post by Lucy »

Hi,
Just thought I'd ask if anyone else had tried one of those McCormick's restaurants they have at various places around the country. I always get the seafood. We've had excellent service and results, even with all my dietary restrictions.
At the one in Houston, not far from the Galleria, I last had a dish of four giant grilled shrimp on a bed of a mixture of things which included a number of small crawfish. I'd never eaten one of those in my life, but at least the way these were fixed, they added lots of flavor to the mixture under those big tasty shrimp. I don't know what they were grilled on to give them that great flavor, but it was wonderful as was the whole combination, even with the removal of all things containing gluten, etc. AND, they actually knew which ones contained gluten, and if they weren't perfectly certain, they just left it out. Somehow, they infused plenty of flavor into this dish, so I have no way of knowing what they did to make it so good. My friends say that everything they get (they are normal eaters!) has been wonderful as well, and you don't have to get seafood if you want something else.

Anyway, I can't wait to go back and have that same dish again. The last time it was a Christmas present -- it was a great one!

Anyone else visited a McCormick's anywhere. Perhaps you could tell us of your experience whether you had a restricted diet then or not.

Yours, Luce

Morning Luce,

I have gone to the one in the Philadelphia area but the one I liked best was in VA near Springfield but is now closed. They were awesome and even had a choice of 3 deserts for me. Knew what gluten free was and went out of their way. Would highly recommend them to anyone who is GF.

Love, Maggie

No, we don't have any near us. I did find a $25 coupon for them last year and posted it on another board. I think one had to make online reservations to use it...........

Maggie,
I'm curious to know what kind of dessert you were able to eat at the restaurant. I can't think of one dessert that I would be able to eat away from home after eliminating ones with eggs, flour or dairy.

Maggie,
Sounds as though they are consistent in attending to our dietary needs.
Too bad about the location in Springfield, Va. Have you any idea why they closed that one?

JLH,
Ya mean someone could send in the coupon you posted, and get the full benefit of the discount? If that's the way it works, that is AWESOME! Wish I could get my hands on a few dozen of those coupons! Ha!

Gloria,
Good luck on finding a dessert without our food "sensitivities." Sometimes the wait staff will bring me some fresh strawberries out of sympathy and a little container of sugar for them. A lady at Outback did that for me a week or two ago. It wasn't a whole lot, but it was sweet and good. Perhaps some of these places that are a little more expensive could do even better with making up a fruit plate for you. I'm going to ask about that next time I'm in that place.
By the way, they told me to watch the almonds (like the ones they use on the trout) as they are covered in flour...or was that the walnuts on the house salad??? Anyway, there were a number of things that I sure wish they'd find a version of that was gluten free and some other things that I wish they'd try making without butter. But, as long as I can get that dish of which I wrote earlier, I'm set til I burn out. Ha!

California Mary,
If you are reading this, I saw that there's a McCormick's in your general vacinity. Might be good for an anniversary dinner or special occasion.
