Regarding All The Little Flags That You See
Hi All,
I hope that this isn't too gaudy to suit everyone's taste, but I thought that this was kind of a cute modification, so I added it today. This code change displays everyone's country flag, (provided that everyone selected their country flag in their profile), all over the board. I don't quite have it completely fine-tuned, yet, but it appears to be working properly, in general.
Note that your flag is blue, the first time you log on. When you begin a new session, (IOW, when you log off, and then log back on), your correct flag should load, (provided you've selected one in your profile). If you still have a blue flag, after more than two sessions, check your profile, to make sure that you have one selected. There are some duplicated lines of data in the profile forms, because this modification duplicated some code from an earlier Mod, but I'll edit out the duplicates, as I locate them in the code.
If you have any problems with the way it works in your browser, or if it's simply so obnoxious that you can't stand to look at it, please let me know, and I'll try to either correct the problem, or uninstall it, as desired.
Thanks,
Tex
P S I forgot to mention that it will also automatically assign an avatar to anyone who does not have one. Obviously, you can still select your own preferred avatar, as always.
P P S Also, because of the duplicate entries in the profile forms, no one can access their profile, until I can correct that problem. If I can't find a way to correct it, in a reasonable amount of time, I may have to just uninstall all the code, and go back to the prior configuration.

OK, never mind. There were too many conflicts with the flag code already in place on the board - the system would get conflicting information for making certain database queries, so I uninstalled all the new changes. I'll have to uninstall all the code for the original flag displays, and then start over, if I'm going to re-install the new code, so that it will work without any glitches. That will take a lot of time, so I think I'll mull that over for a while. LOL.
Sorry for the inconvenience,

Tex,
You do so much to keep this place up and running, if it takes a lot of time and coding I can easily live without the little flags.
The one that shows up from the profiles when you post works for me.

Hi Jan,
I appreciate your thoughts. One of the things that I like best about the other arrangement, is the fact that it displays the actual current time and date for every member, in the information under their avatar, beside their posts. That would surely help to resolve questions we all have about timezone differences. Also, it would be nice to look at the index page and see what country people who are just "browsing" the site, are from.
Thanks,
Tex

Hi Angy,
Actually, we have a couple of members from Merry Old England, who used to post somewhat regularly, but neither of them has posted in quite a while, now.
