Wheeeee...what a winter this has been! I'm sure you heard about the record snowfall in Western WA...now we have record rain! I tried to go to the bank on my way home from work and the road into North Bend is closed! I had to drive through a raging stream to get home. My lake runneth over too...I helped the neighbor pull up his peddle boat, but my row boat with my herb garden floated to the end of the lake. How in the heck could it float when it is full of dirt? There is still some ice on the lake and the neighbor is concerned that it will clog the out-flow and cause more flooding. The lake is very high and it is still raining like the devil. I may not be going to work tomorrow...first of all...my road may be closed, and also I may want to watch the lake level to see if I need to start moving things to higher ground...never a dull moment! There is only one road in and out of my area...there are about 500 homes down here near the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River and the lake. So...if that stream keeps on flooding, we're going to have one heck of a neighborhood party tomorrow! Pass the sandbags!
I-5 has been closed in an area south of Olympia, and the flooded Puyallup river is predicted to flood I-5 north of Tacoma. This will cause a major problem as folks try to commute to Seattle for work! Yikes!
How are my PP friends in other parts of WA State? Hope you are safe!
Take care all...more soon....Love, JJ

Thanks Oma and Gloria!
My friend in Eastern WA called and reminded me that the only way out of Western WA right now is by airplane....no joke...all 3 mountain passes that connect eastern and western wa are closed and I-5 south is closed so can't get out that way either.....Amtrack is cancelled as well...good thing I'm not planning to go far. I may very well stay home tomorrow. One friend suggested that I take my car to the top of the hill..well it's pouring down rain and even if I drive through the raging stream, how would I get back home...wade....swim....hahahahaha...nah...the car is in the garage tonight.
Nite nite...JJ

Wow Jill!
The weather just keeps on keeping on, doesn't it. Please don't take any chances trying to cross high water, because as dry as Texas normally is, I've lost more friends due to them trying to cross flooded streams, than to any other type of adverse natural event that I can think of. The trouble with high water is that by the time you recognize that you're in trouble, it's too late to escape.
Stay safe,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Ditto what Tex says. Even in a car. 2 feet of water can float a car. Not a situation you want to add to your list of adventures.
Stay Dry. We're trying to stay warm here in the northeast....snow snow, icy sleet, and more snow has been our winter so far. Not as much accumulation as last year, but crappy roads needless to say.

Hi Julie,
Guess I should have said high Julie since you really should move your car to high ground. I lived on a flood plain for years and the power of rising water is tremendous. No more crossing streams in it. It seems like the weather is just playing havoc with everyone and now they say it is one of the coldest winters on record and here in the Northeast I would agree.
Stay safe and you and your neighbors are in my prayers.
Love, Maggie

Thanks gang...I made it to work...no water on my road today.
And....I actually drove to work without rain OR a snow storm! Yippee! The rain has stopped, but many rivers are still rising. This is a huge disaster for Western Washington. Some of our teachers and students are stuck behind flood waters...glad it wasn't me this time! :)
Heck, I only have to worry about getting my rowboat full of dirt drug back to it's resting place in front of my house. Actually, the boat belongs to my landlord, and I heard that he turned it into a raised garden bed because it leaked. Obviously,it still floats, hahahahaha.
Thanks for your prayers and well wishes....JJ
