Hidden soy (newbies)

Post by JLH »

There may be hidden soy in your meds and vitamins as I luckily found out here. Gluten and dairy may be in them as well.

Good tip, Joan!

Another tip......I order from Freeda vitamins on-line. They use as few allergens as possible in their inert ingredients, and they are very helpful if you call them with a question.

Thanks, Joan. I'll double check all my supplements. Does anyone know about Entocort?

TP,

The inactive ingredients in Entocort EC are acetyltributyl citrate, dimethicone, ethylcellulose, gelatin, iron oxide, methacrylic acid copolymer, polysorbate 80, sodium lauryl sulfate, sugar spheres (sucrose and maize starch), talc, titanium dioxide and triethylcitrate.

The only possible suspect in that list is maize starch, (most parts of the world refer to corn as "maize"), so unless you are intolerant to corn, these ingredients shouldn't present any problems. Actually, the budesonide in entocort, (the active ingredient), is potent enough that it should override most intolerance issues anyway, unless you happen to be extremely sensitive to a particular ingredient.

Entocort is GF, but I'm not sure about the other stuff.

That's why I had to call all of the drug manufacturers and talk to someone with experience with the prescribed meds that I take. I went to the library and found the book I needed to get all of the manufacturers phone numbers and started calling away!!!!
There is also lactose in most prescribed meds too, but I seem to get away with the such small amount that's added.

The small amount of soy in my vitamin E capsule was enough to cause me problems.
