Hi TP!!!!!
Hope you find some helpful information in the kitchen!!!
I want members to know that once their tummies are on the mend that they don't have to ask "WHAT CAN I EAT" and know that there are options.
I've always been one to want to get out of the rut of the same foods week after week so I like to have a variety to pick from and make & try new things.

Yes, TP, the mock soy sauce is a great replacement. I just made sweet and sour chicken with it and it tasted identical to the real thing. Dee's Kitchen is a great resource. Dee continues to post fantastic recipes. Thank you, Dee!

What's in Mother's Margarine? Or should I say, what's not in Mother's Margarine? Is it soy free?

We've been using coconut oil as a spread and my kids like it, but I'd like a little buttery flavor now and then.

Hi TP!!
From what I understand Mother's margarine is a safe margarine that is dairy free, and only during Passover, they offer it soy free, too.
Gloria has used it so hopefully she'll see our posts and reply.

Apparently it's Jewish tradition during Passover to not eat any grains. I'm not Jewish, but a Jewish teacher at my school explained it to me. It's significant to us because Kosher food manufacturers make special versions of their products which don't contain soy during Passover.

All margarines contain soy, but during Passover, Mother's Margarine is manufactured without it. I've only been able to find the tub version of it, and it's only available at grocers who normally carry Kosher foods. The Chicagoland area contains several large Jewish communities, so during Passover I visit the grocery stores in those communities and look for Mother's Margarine, chocolate chips and even spray cooking oil because they don't have soy. They usually state that they are approved for Passover, which tells you they are soy-free.

Sometime between now and Passover, it would be a good idea to locate the Jewish communities in your area and visit the grocery stores to see if they carry a good supply of Kosher foods. Then when Passover arrives, I'll try to remind everyone to go Kosher shopping. LOL. I was able to purchase soy-free chocolate candy bars and other similar treats that I can never find any other time of the year. I should mention that Enjoy Life makes soy-free chocolate chips that are available year around. But I purchased another brand of chocolate chips for 1/2 the price of Enjoy Life's because I bought them after Passover. I'm still using them, but they are starting to "bloom" a little. I also still have a lot of Mother's Margarine tubs in my freezer.
