JoAnn,
Those e-mails that the system sends out about topic-reply notification, contain a couple of live links, so that you can click on them to read the post, or cancel the notification service, and some spam filters automatically filter out e-mails with viable links, unless the spam filters are "re-programed" in some way, such as adding the sender of the e-mails to a "White List" of e-mail domains that are always to be accepted without question. IOW, the e-mail may be in a "Junk Mail" file at your ISP, or possibly on your own computer, if you have a spam filter set up in your e-mail client. Sometimes those spam filters will cull out one e-mail, but let the next one from the same sender through, depending on how they are programmed.
Or, it may have simply gotten lost somewhere in cyberspace, as sometimes happens.
Tex

Thanks Polly, Luce, and G'ma Mary, your information is inspiring and you make me feel like I'm on a great adventure instead of some terrible road I have to take. Luce, I'm amazed too like Tex how cheerful and productive you are in the wee hours
Thanks all of you for taking the time to respond and help me get going down this road. JoAnn
