Wonderful!! new doctor today...

Post by angy »

Hi guys!! thought i would give you all an update on my doctors appointment today.. This morning when i was working i felt absolutely terrible...so i telephoned the surgery for an emergency appointment as there were no usual appointments for a whole week...Even though i have been treating the candida myself i have relieved some of the symptoms externally. Internally it was not going away and i could feel burning pain moving up into intestine and stomach..

Anyway i managed to get an appointment last thing at the end of the day. Seen a new doctor and she was absolutely fab...Now i felt it would have taken ages to bring to her attention about all my symptoms not just the candida...so i decided to make an explanatory list of everything including the gluten issue and problems with diet etc etc...which my gi doc never listens to...

It took her about 2 mins to read everything i ever wanted to say. and she responded promptly to all my concerns...Discussed the candida issue and she took swabs, urine sample and prescribed me Fluconazole which has cleared the burning..

We discussed my gi doc and my next appointment which is in March. She asked if he had done all the blood work and i said only for celiac and biopsy..
She said right!! we will do all the blood work tomorrow when you get your blood pressure done with the nurse and we will hold off on the cervical smear until this candida has cleared...

Then ill go back and see whats what...

She then said ok lets get you some prescribed gf foods for a trial and see how you get on with them. I said i had been buying gf foods for months so i was happy to have them..She said usually nhs is a bit reluctant to give you a full 14 unit gf prescription if you aint diagnosed celiac. She said right we cant have you starving lol!!!

I was gobsmacked!! i never ever had a gp be so supportive...I left feeling great.

That's fantastic, Angy. I'm glad you have meds for your pain, too.

Angy,

I'm so glad to see that you've found a fantastic doc. It's about time, after all the problems that you had before, especially with your GI doc. You deserve to finally get a break.

I'm not sure, but I think that I read somewhere that sometimes you may feel worse, after the Candida starts dying, because it can release a toxin, and it can clog up things, if there's a lot of it.

Anyway, it's great that your new doctor is so responsive to your needs. It's a shame that they can't all be so considerate, and so efficient. I hope you can "keep" her.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thanks Tex, i hope i can get her all the time too..However at my gp surgery when u phone for an appointment its usually a "lucky dip" doctor, considering that you have to phone early in the morning to see if you can get an appointment on the day. They dont give you appointments booked in advance unless its weeks away.. I discovered there is only two doctors surgeries in my town and the one im registered has two wings..a very busy surgery..So im going to try my best to get her..

Hi Angy,

She sounds absolutely great and I know what it is like dealing with your medical system and to get a GF food script is wonderful.

Just got an email from my DIL and she said gobsmacked which is a Brit term that I absolutely love.

Love, Maggie

lol!! joan thanks for the link..
since gob, originally from Scotland and the north of England, has been a dialect and slang term for the mouth for four hundred years (often in insulting phrases like “shut your gob!” to tell somebody to be quiet). It possibly goes back to the Scottish Gaelic word meaning a beak or a mouth, which has also bequeathed us the verb to gob, meaning to spit. Another form of the word is gab, from which we get gift of the gab.
ilove that shut your gob!! i do say that srry!! sounds rude..
