OMG, tulips are coming up

Post by JLH »

Since we put up the deer/dog fence, we planted our first tulips in the fall. There is going to be a hard freeze later in the week.

I hope the little buggers can handle freezing rain, 'cause that's what we're having tonight, and it's headed in your direction.

The tulips should be fine!!
I've had daffodils come up in February here in Ohio, definitely surviving freezing temps, and had beautiful blooms come spring. They have there own way of protecting themselves..

I'm only chiming in because I'm jealous! We are getting 10 to 20 inches of snow here today. It will be at least another month before we start seeing stuff poke out of the ground. And given this year's snowfall, anything not right next to the house (which melts first) will be closer to 2 months I'm afraid.

Ah well, a peaceful snowfall is a nice thing too...should be a pretty day and I'm working from home so I don't have to drive in it.

Morning Joan,

Those bulbs will be just fine. Remember a freezing rain of almost 1" and coated all of mine that were up and they survived beautifully. What a truly weird weather pattern for the country.

Love, Maggie
